The article explores the meta-theoretical approach as a theory design tool. Previous studies have allowed us toassert that the use of the term “theory” is incorrect and that the procedures for theorizing are unclear. To elim-inate the shortcomings, a transition from a multidimensional approach in theory design to a multidimensionalapproach is proposed. For this purpose, the well-known methodological developments of K. Popper,V.I. Razumov, D. Frankfurter, etc. are used systematically, and not individually. The purpose of the article isto demonstrate the practical application of the methodology in the design of economic research. The noveltyof this material lies in the fact that economic theories are traditionally designed as a reflection of the positionof one methodological direction. This is due to the fact that modern economists rarely turn to methodology, and if they do, they usually limit themselves to only one, sometimes randomly selected, methodological ap-proach. The emergence of a new methodological position on the same object becomes an incentive to formanother theory, which introduces a mismatch in the understanding of the object. A multidimensional approachto the design of theory in economics makes it possible to eliminate these shortcomings. This is done by crea-tively reworking several methodological approaches in order to build an author's methodological structuremore adequate to the object.
