Abstract

In the article based on archival materials the history of child homelessness in Central Kazakhstan was examined, which became widespread during the famine of the 30s of the twentieth century. The authors, studying the main causes of the spread of child homelessness in Central Kazakhstan in the 1930s, consider the main measures and methods of state power in solving the problem of child homelessness. The authors consider such measures of state power as the creation of local nutrition centers for children, provision of food and clothing, distribution of funds, as well as special attention is paid to the problems of opening orphanages and the conditions of detention of street children in them. The authors conclude that hunger was the main reason for the sharp increase in child homelessness in Central Kazakhstan in the 1930s.
