Abstract

The article gives a general analysis of language policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan. To understand the modern language situation in the republic, they show the achievements and shortcomings of the language policy of the Soviet state. An attempt is made to analyze the problems and perspectives of the policy in the field of language in modern Kazakhstan. The problems encountered in the implementation of language policy, in particular, the reduction of control by the government over the implementation of the adopted legislative acts and ineffective development of financial resources allocated by the state budget for carrying out activities in the field of language policy are noted. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the language policy in the country is not effective enough. First of all, this concerns achieving one of the main goals of the policy — raising the status of the state (Kazakh) language. Despite objective and subjective problems, the authors agree with the opinion of those researchers who give an optimistic forecast to language policy and are confident that all the goals will be achieved. A positive result of the language policy is highlighted — maintaining a balance between the desire to raise the status of the state language and taking into account the interests of the remaining languages of multinational Kazakhstan.
