Abstract

Archaeological research in Central Kazakhstan revealed the source of the prosperity and wealth of the tribes of the region. It is the richest copper ore resource base involved by the ancient metallurgists. Due to the internal and external exchange of ore, metal and products made of it became the primary goods, which largely determined the life support system and way of life of primitive tribes. An outstanding monument of ancient metallurgical production is the Alat settlement of the late bronze age. The materials of long-term studies of residential and industrial areas of the settlement where bronze and iron melting production in the chronological framework of the cultures of rolling ceramics were revealed allows to concretize and develop conceptual positions on the role and importance of ancient metallurgy in the regional historical process.
