Formation and activity of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan: problems of modernization of historical consciousness

Abstract

In connection with the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, many of the most pressing issues of national history are considered from new points of view. History is one of the ways of self-knowledge of the nation. Therefore, it is necessary to have a high level of historical knowledge that can convey objective information. To write such a story was a direct task of science of the history of Kazakhstan in the conditions of independence. Of course, it is important to use archival documents in the study and writing of the history of the nation. In the article entitled «Seven facets of the great steppe» the Head of state stressed the need to adopt a seven-year archival program «Archives-2025» for the wide use of archival documents related to the history of the country. This opens up great opportunities. Within the framework of the program, historians will be able to work with the archives of domestic and foreign countries. This initiative of the Head of state reflects the relevance of the article. In this article, the authors provide an inventory of documents from the funds of the National archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan and indicate the available services of the archive. The purpose of this article is to determine the contribution of the national archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the modernization of historical consciousness. To achieve the goals, the authors were acquainted with the lists of documents of the national archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, gave a description. The funds of the National archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan contain rich sources on the history of independence. The authors came to the conclusion that the documents of the National archive are an indispensable source in the study of the history of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in this regard, it is necessary to publish more archival materials in an accessible form for the General public.
