The transition of the national archival funds of the Republic of Kazakhstan to digital characteristics

Abstract

The transition of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan to digitalization is one of the topical initiatives in the modernization of archives. The idea of copying national archival funds to digital descriptions did not appear today. On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev, since the beginning of the implementation of the «Electronic Government» program in 2004, an electronic archive system has also been organized in our country. In the article, the author described in detail the course of the  transition of the national archival funds of the Republic of Kazakhstan to digital characterization and underlines  the importance of the electronic archive system. In this regard, we will talk about the work of the project «Digital Kazakhstan», aimed at developing the public service process. In conclusion, the author has no doubt  that the transition of archives to digital description, the use of new technologies will give new impetus to the  development of archival work.
