«Wilderness project»: achieving and problems (socio-economic and ecological aspects of virgin lands)

Abstract

The agrarian policy of N.S.Khrushchev on the development of virgin and fallow lands and the practice of its
implementation in Kazakhstan became the object of study of this article. Solving the virgin problem the contradictions and confrontation within the Union leadership and by the scientists of the agrarians, as well as between N.S.Khrushchev and the Kazakh leaders were considered. On the basis of archival and statistical materials rials, the course and consequences of the development of virgin lands in the Kazakh SSR are traced. On the
basis of archive and statistical materials run and the consequences of development of virgin lands in Kazak
ССР are traced. By authors they are made historiographic review of Soviet literature about virgin soil and
conclusion is made that as a whole in works positive evaluations of development of virgin and laylands on
Kazakstan territory were present. Modern Kazakstanian historiography on virgin problems passed way from radically negative evaluation in 1990s to scientific weighted in 2000s. There are no special fundamental works on development of the virgin soil in Domestic historical science meanwhile. These processes are considered in the context of studying of socio economic problems of Kazssr in Soviet period. As a whole, authors draw conclusion that the topic of the virgin soil is promising in scientific plan and causes to the last.
