«Gold production» of oil workers in the Bashkir ASSR during the Great Patriotic war

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic war. The author attempted to reveal the production activities of oil-producing and oil-refining enterprises, including those evacuated to the Bashkir ASSR, and their contribution to providing the front with oil products. This article shows the social composition of oil workers, as well as the efforts of the State Defense Committee (GKO) and scientists to search for new oil fields. The forms and methods of intensifying the production of«black gold», the development of the innovators and inventors’ movement, the mass labor heroism of oil workers are revealed in the article by concrete examples and facts. The role and place of the BASSR among the subjects of the «Second Baku» are defined, the great importance of oil products of the region and the Republicin the fateful situation of the second half of 1942 is emphasized by the author. The article contains specific information about the powerful rise of the Republic oil production since the discovery of Devonian oil in Tuymazy. The author highlights its scientific and defense significance.
