Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the problems of cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure between the PRC and the countries of Central Asia. The implementation of the Chinese «Belt and Road» initiative can strengthen the role of Central Asia as the main transport hub of Eurasia and lead to the formation of a new architecture of the world economy in this space. Authors of the article aim to identify risks and analyze current problems, the solution of which is necessary for the effective implementation of the objectives of the Initiative. The importance of a comprehensive study of the development of transport corridors in Central Asia, as well as the interests of regional and extra-regional powers in their development, is determined by the possibility of these processes influencing the balance of international relations in the future. The problems of the article are considered through the prism of the theory of sustainable development and «new regionalism». These theories make it possible to explain the traditional forms of effective cooperation, both between the countries of the Central Asian region and with their neighbors (geographic location, common interests, the formation of interaction mechanisms, etc.). At the end of the article, authors present their conclusions about the analyzed problem and possible ways to solve it.
