A new genre of dance culture that has been existing for little more than half a century in Kazakhstan has passed from an amateur association of sports dance (AASD) to a special university discipline “Pedagogy of sports ballroom dancing”. The сontribution of V. Antsyshkin, who stuck at the origins of this path and outlined the main directions of its development, has not yet been studied. For the first time, the article presents unexplored facts of V. Antsyshkin’s biography, analyzes the personal qualities that determined his organizational, performing and pedagogical activities. The concept of Valery Valentinovich’s creative personality is based on archival documents, exclusive memories of relatives, friends, colleagues, students.
