Abstract

Currently, “historical local studies” has become a key component of educational standards, reflecting the special needs and interests of the region. Based on this, the role of studying local history at the university level is important in raising the professional level of students, promoting deep knowledge of young people about the history of their native land, and forming patriotism among students. The scientific article discusses some methodological approaches and methods of patriotic education in higher educational institutions. In particular, one of the simplest and most effective means of patriotic education for students in the educational process is the teaching of tourism through a local history subject. The authors propose measures for the introduction of cultural and local history practices in the educational process and strengthening their role in the formation of professional competencies of future specialists. The article defines the term local history, considers methods of teaching cultural and historical tourism on the subject of local history. A scientific analysis of the similarities and differences between tourism and local history is carried out. In addition, detailed information is provided on the positive impact of teaching local history at the university on the spiritual development of students, the impact on the historical, social and cultural structure of the region.
