Abstract

Central Kazakhstan, as a region rich in natural resources, became a link in the strategy of forced industrialization of the USSR during large-scale modernization processes. The practice of forced relocation, forced labor became the basis for the development of the territory. Based on a wide range of sources, mostly archival documents, facts are presented that indicate three stages of forced relocations (deportations) to the territory of Central Kazakhstan: 1930s; 1941–1945; 1946–1953. They were representatives of various nationalities from all over the Soviet Union. Fragmentary data on the number of arrivals in the region, imperfect methods of accounting for the population, or its absence at all do not allow us to establish the exact number of arrivals to the territory. Mass deportations have changed the demographic picture of the region,  almost all aspects of economic, social, and cultural life.
