Abstract

The article deals, first of all, with the most different points of view on the understanding of fate. The author conducted a historical and philosophical analysis of the problem. Two opposing worldview positions regarding freedom of choice and predetermination of human life are revealed. It is noted that at all stages of society development, regardless of the social structure and the level of socio-cultural development, the solution to this problem of fate remained ambiguous and sharply debatable. Despite this, the article considers the necessity of research in the meaning of understanding the fate of mankind in the historical context of globalization and social transformation. In this connection, the thoughts related to the idea of fate offered by the philosophy of the Stoics give special importance to the moral and ethical character of the human race in our time. The possibilities of the Stoics in resolving various crisis situations are also examined. An attempt is made to systematically highlight and analyse the ideas of Stoicism, also an attempt to determine the relevance of this philosophical direction for modern society.
