Abstract

The doctrine of establishing socialism in the Soviet Union began to be implemented through the tasks of in dustrialization, collectivization, cultural revolution, formation of science and culture, intellectuals serving the Soviet ideology and new way of life. In this context, the authors of the article define the policy pursued by the Soviet authorities against religion and religious figures in the 1920s and 1930s. The authors also examine one of the periods of the Soviet government's long anti-religious policy. Based on archival materials, the authors write about repressions, initiated criminal cases related to religious figures, as well as special activities conducted among the population in order to turn the society into “godless”.
